Boat-show week in Fort Lauderdale is a logistics problem dressed as a social one. Hotels within a tender of Bahia Mar book out with the same family offices every year. If the purpose is to walk boats, not to be seen at the after-parties, we keep clients west of the barrier or in a quiet house with a dock — and we move them by car at hours when A1A is a parking lot. The serious looking happens before the show opens and after the docks empty. A suite on the Intracoastal with a balcony over a DJ is not a working base.
