Broward boat-lift permits versus the yacht you intend to keep

A Broward boat lift is a different file from a dock permit. Capacity, beam, covered vs open, and HOA sightlines — not a seawall photograph. Not legal advice.

A Broward boat-lift permit is not the dock permit with a winch. Buyers inherit a 15,000-pound cradle sized for a bay boat and then send us a 54-foot convertible. The city file, the manufacturer plate, and the HOA’s view of a covered slip are three vetoes. This page is the planning distinction. It is not an application kit.

Typical friction: lift capacity vs actual displacement (not brochure dry weight), piling setbacks, electrical, and a roof that turns a “lift” into a structure review. Coral Ridge and Victoria Park lifts are often honest for a center console and fatal for a sportfish even if the canal were deeper. Harbor Beach more often argues permitted length on the bulkhead than davit theater. Pair with the private-dock page; do not substitute one file for the other. We introduce marine contractors and attorneys who already pull these permits. We do not stamp drawings. Controlling depth at the bunks still comes first. Advisory. Not legal advice.

Typical planning figures and neighborhood patterns only. Not legal, tax, insurance, or survey advice. Confirm with counsel, the city, the carrier, and a surveyor before you act.

If the dock is permitted, is the lift permitted?

Do not assume that. Separate drawings, separate review, often a different year on the survey.

Is this legal advice?

No. Typical planning notes. Use a Florida marine attorney for the file.
