Andrews Avenue Bridge: 21 ft closed and the New River

Andrews Avenue is where Fort Lauderdale stops pretending the New River is an ocean basin. Closed clearance is about twenty-one feet. That number ends a standing tuna tower, a full flybridge motoryacht at rest, and any captain who believed a listing photograph of downtown. It does not automatically end an express with a low radar arch, a center console, or a sportfish whose tower is a story they are willing to take down before the river address.

Graph obstacle 6 sits on the Andrews reach. Rio Vista and New River downtown both inherit this gate. A Hatteras GT60 or Viking 68 with the tower up is a no. A Pershing 7X or an Azimut S-line in the low twenties is a maybe that still needs the SE 3rd Avenue sixteen-foot problem solved first — Andrews is not the only span on the way in.
